Fourth Grade Update - March 27

Yesterday the students presented their Lewis and Clark individual projects.

I emphasized over and over that this is a learning experience and I want them to simply show their best effort.

That said...

I was blown away by the effort most of the students put into their work.  Often, children who don't have to work very hard to learn, take the easy way out when doing projects. I am convinced that when allowed to choose their topic, within a set of guidelines, they will rise to the occasion.  Had I simply told them all to make a speech, or write a report, the work would not have been nearly as good.  However, I emphasized that these options are not always the norm and that anytime they are showing their knowledge they should do their best work.

The visual projects will be on display in the classroom during conferences. So, during Parent-Teacher Conferences feel free to stop by the room and chat if you have a question or concern or just want to see the wonderful work of your children.  I'll be hanging out here to be available.  I will post a note on the door with a possible return time if I'm away.
