Equations Links

Many of the kids are struggling with the idea of exponents and order of operations.  So I went in search of some help.  I am now in love with this website - Math is Fun (mathisfun.com).  They make everything seem so easy.  It's fun to read and everything is explained in simple language.

Exponents: http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/exponent-laws.html
This site easily explains how to use exponents and then gives examples the children can try.

Order of Operations: PEMDAS - http://www.mathsisfun.com/operation-order-pemdas.html
Parenthesis
Exponents
Multiplication
Division
Addition
Subtraction

I encourage the use of parenthesis when writing a valid equation. It takes away any doubt another player may have about your solution.

Hopefully everyone took the time to read over the "official" rules for the competition.  I know it's a lot, and we'll be reviewing some of the finer points as we get closer to the competition.
